This weekend is packed to the gills with events all over the midstate. Read on to find out the cream of the crop…
1.
Arts & Flowers
The inaugural Arts & Flowers event, benefiting the ALIAS Chamber Ensemble, will be held this Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the penthouse at the gorgeous Terrazzo in the Gulch in Nashville. The event will feature wine and other beverages, entertainment from ALIAS and the pairing of local artists and florists in the creation of competitive works of art that will be displayed during the party. Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 at the door. For reservations and more information, check out www.aliasmusic.org.
2.
Everything’s coming up roses
Brentwood’s Towne Centre Theatre continues their summer run of the classic Broadway musical Gypsy this weekend with four performances through Sunday. Visit www.townecentretheatre.com for tickets and showtimes.
3.
A little night music
The Carnton Summer Concert series kicks off this Sunday night with Satisfaction: International Rolling Stones Show. There are only three sunset concerts this summer at Carnton so this is not to be missed. The concert begins at 6 p.m. Check out www.carnton.org for more info on this historic plantation.
4.
A little more night music
Meanwhile, across town at Crockett Park in Brentwood, the WannaBealtes – with the aid of the Cool Springs Youth Orchestra – continue Crockett Park’s own summer concert series at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater. The festivities kick off at 7 p.m.
5.
‘Knight and Day’ at a ‘Grown Up’ B.O.
A couple of major films will be trying with all their might to dethrone Toy Story 3 this weekend. Knight and Day teams Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in a new romantic action comedy caper while Grown Ups puts Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Spade together to see what laughs they can coax from audiences.
As always, safe and happy weekends to all,
JT
